Stephen kickstarts project to revamp Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre

On Friday Stephen hosted a lunch at the Liverpool Royal Court Theatre. The lunch marked the start of a lottery funded project to modernise the Theatre.

The multimillion pound project aims to give the Theatre space a revamp as well as allowing greater engagement with local communities and residents. The lunch was the first of two planned to mark the beginning of the exciting project. Twelve guests sat on the famous Royal Court stage. Sitting on the set of The Royal Court’s current popular show ‘Little Scouse on the Prairie’ guests enjoyed a three course meal whilst chatting about the theatre and its exciting education programmes.

A successful bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund means the The Royal Court Liverpool Trust can begin improvement works on the Grade II listed art deco theatre. Stephen said “The Royal Court Theatre provides a fantastic resource to schools and young people. As a producing theatre, it has much to offer young people from the chance to perform on stage to helping them learn more about the theatre industry through work experience placements and apprenticeships.”

“I’m delighted to be here to learn more about the plans for the renovation of the theatre and how the Trust will encourage young people to get involved in this important regeneration project for the City.”
